BRYN MAWR, Pa., February 10, 2022 – In the second of two Region matchups between the Monroe College Mustangs men's basketball team and No. 8 Harcum College, Harcum picked up the narrow win at home by a score of 84-81 Thursday evening at the OMGC Indoor Stadium. The Mustangs fall to 21-6 overall and 2-1 in region play, while Harcum improves to 24-2 and 2-1 in-region.
Neither team was able to completely pull away in Thursday's matchup. The Mustangs held a 41-37 lead after the first 20 minutes, but the lead traded back-and-forth throughout the second half. Melvin Council Jr. was tripped out of bounds and called for a turnover, giving the Bears the ball back with time about to expire. Harcum put the ball back in play and let the clock run out to hang on by three.
Hamdel Mohammed led the Mustangs with 25 points in the game, narrowly missing a double-double with nine rebounds. Council totaled 23 points and nine boards of his own.
Tyje Kelton completed a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, as well as four assists and a team-high four steals.
