NEWTON, N.J., September 15, 2021 – The No. 8-ranked Monroe College Mustangs women's soccer team took care of business Wednesday afternoon, scoring a goal in each half while keeping their hosts scoreless in a 2-0 victory at D2 No. 18 Sussex County Community College. The Mustangs improve to 3-1 on the season with their third straight win, while the Skylanders drop to 2-2.
Luana Grabias ended the game's scoreless streak in the 40th minute on a penalty-kick opportunity, leaving the Mustangs on top, 1-0, heading into the break.
Not long after halftime, the Mustangs doubled up the score on the Skylanders.
Regina Fiabema sent a free kick directly into the back of the net in the 56th minute, reaching what would eventually become the final score of 2-0.
Stefane Rosa earned her third straight victory and second shutout of the season with five saves on Wednesday.
The Mustangs are back at it on Saturday, Sept. 18, when they visit D2 No. 14 CCBC Essex in Rossville, MD. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.

The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 39 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 18 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
