HISTORY
Monroe and Motlow State have never matched up in their history, while Monroe and Tyler have played four times, three of which took place in the NJCAA Championship tournament. The Mustangs and Apaches have split their all-time matchups, 2-2. Most recently, Tyler defeated Monroe in the 2019 championship finals. The year prior, the Mustangs defeated the Apaches to win the 2018 Championship. Tyler picked up a regular-season victory over the Mustangs in September of 2017. The last time Monroe and Tyler matched up in the pool-play round, the No. 7-ranked Mustangs defeated the No. 2-seeded Apaches, 2-1, back in 2015.

As mentioned previously, the Mustangs most recently won the NJCAA Championship back in 2018. This was Monroe's second national title, as the Mustangs also defeated Eastern Florida State College in 2014 for the program's first championship. The Mustangs return to the tournament after not competing in the 2020-21 season, and makes it back by winning the East District Championship.

Tyler has won three of the past four NJCAA Championships (2020-21, 2019, 2017) and has appeared in each of the last five tournament finals. Tyler qualified for this year's tournament by winning the South District Championship, and was the No. 1-ranked team in the NJCAA in the final rankings.

Motlow State is making its first-ever appearance in the NJCAA Div. I Women's Soccer Championship tournament this season. Motlow State went a perfect 7-0 in conference play and won the Southeast District Championship.
