RANDOLPH, N.J., February 4, 2020 – Led by big games from
Maya Crimes and
Cheyenne Talbot, the Monroe College Mustangs women's basketball team rolled to an 81-54 victory at the County College of Morris Tuesday evening. Monroe's third straight win improves its record to 15-10 on the year, while the Titans drop to 5-13 overall.
Crimes tallied a season-high 21 points to lead the Mustangs on Tuesday. She also narrowly missed a double-double with a team-high nine rebounds. Talbot continued her hot streak with 16 points and a season-high 10 assists, adding seven boards to come up just shy of a triple-double. Talbot also led the Mustangs with two steals.
ToniRenee Blanford added 12 points while making a trio of three-pointers in the win.
Devon Adams contributed 10 points, five rebounds and a pair of blocked shots.
Daja Wentz added nine points off the bench, while
Taylor Holmes totaled six points and six rebounds.
Monroe will look to make it four in a row when the Mustangs return home to the Monroe Athletic Complex on Saturday, Feb. 8, to host Hostos Community College to kick off a triple-header at the MAC. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 12 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
