Monroe Mustangs JV Men’s Soccer Plays to Draw at Bristol

FALL RIVER, Mass., September 17, 2019 – The Monroe College Mustangs JV men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw at Bristol Community College on Tuesday. The Mustangs move to 0-1-1 on the year, while the Bayhawks go to 2-1-1.
 
Bristol's Bradley Texeira netted the first goal of the day in the 75th minute to put the Bayhawks up, 1-0. Monroe's Jay Wong then tied the game up in the 82nd minute to force overtime. Neither team was able to break through in the two extra periods, resulting in the 1-1 stalemate.
 
George Herrera played all 110 minutes in goal for the Mustangs, stopping three shots while allowing just one goal.
 
Wong scored the lone goal of the day for the Mustangs on Tuesday. Delva Guy, Santiago Lopez, Charlie Dominguez and William Shanks each attempted a shot in the game.
 
The season continues for the Mustangs JV team on Thursday, Sept. 19, when they visit Springfield Technical Community College in Springfield, Mass. The game is set to begin at 4 p.m.
 
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 12 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
