Monroe Mustangs JV Men’s Basketball Falls Twice in Virginia

NORFOLK, Va., December 30, 2019 – The Monroe College Mustangs JV men's basketball team played a pair of games in Norfolk, Va. this past weekend. The Mustangs fell to Bryant & Stratton College's V.I.T. team, 65-55, on Saturday, before dropping an 82-55 final score to American National University on Sunday. The Mustangs fall to 3-9 overall with the pair of losses.
 
Jedidiah Ashton led the Mustangs with 13 points and seven rebounds in Saturday's contest against Bryant & Stratton. Jerald Campbell totaled nine points, scoring all of his points in the second half. Erizander Laureano made a pair of threes and finished with eight points.
 
Campbell led the team with 11 points in Sunday's matchup with American National, adding six rebounds as well. Ashton just missed a double-double with eight points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Luis Quinones did a little bit of everything with nine points, seven boards, two assists and two steals. Levan Foster picked up 11 points and seven rebounds.
 
The Mustangs are back in action on Monday, Jan. 6, when they host the College of Mount Saint Vincent JV team in the first American International Post Grad and Collegiate Conference (AIPGCC) contest of the season. Tip-off from the Monroe Athletic Complex is scheduled for 6 p.m.
 
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 12 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
