SEWELL, N.J., May 1, 2018 – The Monroe College baseball team suffered a 14-4 setback on Tuesday at Rowan College at Gloucester County, the No. 1-ranked team in NJCAA Division III. The Mustangs fall to 26-13-1 on the year, while the Roadrunners claim their 25th straight win and improve to 40-3.

The Roadrunners got the scoring started in the bottom of the second when they tallied three unearned runs. With a man on first, an error allowed a second runner to reach with one away in the inning. Now with two down, Dillon Tassi singled in Will Gougon to give the home team a 1-0 lead. Jose Zayas then scored when the Roadrunners executed a double steal with runners on the corners to make it a 2-0 game, and then JJ Ganzaroli singled in Tassi to put Rowan Gloucester up, 3-0.

Edwin Feliciano Jr. led off the third with a walk.
Joseph Encarnacion then singled up the middle, and managed to move up on a throw, leaving runners on second and third.
Iasid Bernal then grounded out to short, but it was deep enough to bring in Feliciano and cut the deficit to two runs.

Diego Arcelay hit a one-out single to right in the top of the fourth. Feliciano later singled with two outs, and moved up on the throw to put two runners in scoring position. Arcelay then scored on a passed ball, and Encarnacion followed with an RBI double to right, scoring Feliciano to tie the game. Bernal followed that up with a single through the left side, scoring Encarnacion to put the Mustangs on top, 4-3.

With two on in the bottom of the fourth, Rowan Gloucester's Jack Goan homered over the right-field wall, putting the Roadrunners back in the lead by a score of 6-4.

In the sixth, the Roadrunners mustered up another two runs to take an 8-4 advantage. They added another six runs in the bottom of the seventh, ending the game via run-rule at 14-4.

Roadrunner reliever Rich Racobaldo picked up the win with three scoreless innings in relief.
Richard Moesker shouldered the loss for Monroe to fall to 5-2 on the year.

Encarnacion had a strong day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Bernal batted 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Feliciano finished 1-for-2 with two runs scored.

The Mustangs will look to rebound on Wednesday, May 2, when they host County College of Morris at Dick Caswell Field. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.

The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's rugby, and the newly added club women's rugby team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has six teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level as of the fall of 2017.
