Monroe Mustangs Women’s Basketball Claims Third at National Title IX Holiday Invite with Victory over Hostos

WASHINGTON D.C., December 29, 2018 – The Monroe College Mustangs women's basketball team earned third place at the 10th Annual National Title IX Holiday Invitational on Saturday after defeating Hostos Community College by a score of 59-54 at the D.C. Armory. The Mustangs leave D.C. with an 11-4 record on the season, while Hostos falls to 12-4.
 
Devon Adams had another solid game for the Mustangs with 12 points and nine rebounds. Courtney Irabor matched her 12 points, adding four boards and two steals. Shanice Graves finished with 10 points, three assists and a pair of steals. Phyness Baldwin led the team with seven assists, adding nine points and six rebounds.
 
The Mustangs will play next in the New Year, when they visit Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, Pa. on Tuesday, Jan. 8. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
 
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 27 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
