New Rochelle, N.Y. – With the outdoor track season recently completed, Monroe College sophomore
Susan Ejore added one final award to her extraordinary resume when she was named the Women's Track National Athlete of the Year for Division I by the NJCAA.
At the National Championships in late May, Ejore won individual titles in both the 800- and 1500-meter distances. Her anchor leg run in the 4X800-meter relay also helped the team earn the gold medal and 22 points in the competition. Her time in the 800 meters was 2:10.73, while her mark in the 1500 meters (4:36.62) was nearly seven seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
Ejore, a native of Nakuru, Kenya, has rewritten the record books for both the Cross Country and Track & Field teams during her time at Monroe. She has accepted a scholarship to the University of Oregon and will compete for the Ducks in the fall.
