STATEN ISLAND, N.Y, December 16, 2017 – Marcus Thompson's 20-point double-double wasn't enough, as the Monroe Mustangs' JV men's basketball team fell to CNC Leadership Prep, 81-80 on Saturday.
 
Five players scored in double figures for the Mustangs against CNC Leadership Prep, but a free throw with four seconds left gave CNC Leadership Prep the victory.
 
Led by Thompson's 12 first-half points, the Mustangs took a 28-24 lead into the halftime break. But CNC Leadership Prep outscored Monroe by five in the second half to pull out a one-point victory.
 
Thompson's 22 point afternoon led the Mustangs, while Javandre House and Christopher Davis each tallied 12 points. Davis also added eight rebounds, while Nolen Irby and Isaiah Allen-Smith joined the trio in double-figures with 10 points apiece.
 
Thompson led the Mustangs on the boards as well with 10, posting his second double-double of the season.
 
With the loss, Monroe falls to 7-5 on the season. They'll look to bounce back when they take on Our Saviour Lutheran on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Monroe Athletic Complex in New Rochelle, N.Y.
