Monroe Men’s Basketball Bounces Back with Defeat of Richard Bland

BALTIMORE, Md., November 18, 2017 – After dropping its first contest of the season on Friday, the Monroe College men's basketball team rebounded to pick up an 83-73 victory over Richard Bland College on Saturday on the second day of the Baltimore City Community College Tournament. The Mustangs improve to 3-1 on the season with the win.
 
Thomas Binelli netted a team-high 14 points off the bench, while Isaiah Ward followed with 12. Nukoy Singleton dished out a game-high 10 assists to go with seven points. Ebrima Jassey Demba scored eight points and added five rebounds. Bryan Assie grabbed a team-best nine rebounds while contributing five points and a pair of blocks.
 
The Mustangs made 27-of-56 attempts (48.2 percent) from the field, while making 44.4 percent (8-of-18) of their shots from three-point range. They were also good on 20-of-28 free throws (71.4 percent) in the win.
 
The Mustangs remain in Baltimore for one more game this weekend, as they take on host Baltimore City Community College on Sunday, Nov. 19. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m.
 
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's rugby, and the newly added club women's rugby team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, will have six teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level beginning in the fall of 2017.
