North East, P.A. – The Monroe College softball team dropped all three games at Mercyhurst North East over the weekend, falling to the Saints 14-1, 6-2 and 17-1. The team is now 8-11 on the season.
Monroe took a lead in game one before losing 14-1 in five innings. Tara Sasso led off the contest with a single. She stole second and scored on a Taylor White base hit.
Game two went to the Saints 6-2. Monroe actually outhit Mercyhurst in this one 9-3, but were done in by five walks and four errors. Cassidy Wootten and Gabrielle Placencia each had three hits and an RBI.
Toni Harris drove in the lone run in the third game, a 17-1 loss after only five innings. Wootten, Leidaly Garcia and Yeisy Cruz each picked up a hit in the game.
The Monroe College softball team will return to action on Tuesday, April 19, when they face SUNY Orange in a regional contest. The doubleheader in Middletown, New York is scheduled for 3PM.
