Kingston, N.Y. – Monroe College freshman
Xavier Bilodeau fanned nine batters and improved to 2-0 in a 9-6 victory at Dutchess Community College on Wednesday.
Cam Crabbe led the offensive attack with four hits and a pair of runs scored.
After a Crabbe single put Monroe up 1-0 in the first inning, Dutchess responded with a pair of runs in their half to grab a 2-1 lead. The Mustangs took a 3-2 lead with two runs in the third.
Isiah Torres led off with a walk. He scored on a Crabbe double to tie the score at 2-2. Crabbe came in on an RBI base hit by
Miguel Ortiz to give Monroe a 3-1 lead.
The Falcons tied the game in the bottom of the third, and both sides scored once in the fourth, bringing the score to 4-4. The Mustangs regained the lead with a pair of runs in the fifth.
Ramger Iglesias singled, and
Ronald Jackson drove him in with a double. Four batters later, C. J. Moore made the score 6-4 with an RBI single to plate Jackson. Jackson added a two-RBI triple in the eighth to put the Mustangs up, 8-4.
Dutchess answered with two runs in the eighth inning, and the game entered the ninth with Monroe up 8-6. The Mustangs added an insurance run in the ninth, when
Alex De La Cruz scored on a wild pitch. They won 9-6.
The Monroe College baseball team returns to action on Friday, April 1, when they host Brookdale Community College at 3:00 PM.
