New Rochelle, N.Y. – The Monroe College Men's Basketball team halted a three-game losing streak with a 69-62 win over Harford Community College on Tuesday.
Tyler Ancrum led the team with 16 points and was one of three Mustangs to reach double figures in scoring.
Dani Koljanin recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while
Clifton Tracey added 11 points.
Monroe got off to a quick start, scoring the first eight points of the game.
Felix Carlsson opened scoring off of a nice pass from
Will Martinez.
Donald Butler scored the next two baskets, and Ancrum capped the run with a bucket. After a three-pointer got Harford on the board,
Mouhamadou Gueye found Butler for a thunderous dunk that brought the crowd to its feet and the score to 10-3. A Tracey three-pointer with nine minutes left gave Monroe its largest lead of the half, 15 points. They led at the break, 39-32.
The Fighting Owls came back to take the lead twice in the second half. Monroe took the lead for good on a pair of Butler free throws with 6:32 left. With the outcome still in question, a steal and layup by Ancrum less than two minutes later helped seal the victory for the Mustangs.
With the win, the team improved to 8-4 overall. They will return to action on Thursday, December 8th, against Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania at 7:00 PM.
