The Monroe women's basketball team, having conquered both the Region XV and District N finals, is headed to the NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship tournament – again! After defeating Union County College 73-61 this past Sunday to secure its latest District N title, they have earned themselves a spot for the 12th consecutive year in the national tournament, underscoring the palpable strength of Monroe's basketball programs (the men will also make an appearance at their national tournament in Hutchinson, KS).
Facing strong competition from Union, sophomore guard
Breana Bey brought her A-game to help the team secure their District finals victory, earning a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Additionally, it was an outstanding game for freshman

Shania Johnson scored a notable 13 points off the bench along with 5 steals. Also worth noting are
Aaliyah Mercer's 11 points and 7 rebounds, which added to a display of excellent teamwork from the Mustangs.
Monroe's advance to the District finals was resultant of a semi-final defeat of Lackawanna College (78-52) this past Saturday that saw guard Karean Bellamy contribute 17 points, 4 assists and two steals to help bring home the win.
Other outstanding performances during the semi-final game included
Troniqua Black, with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks;
Breana Bey, with 13 points and 6 assists; and
