The Monroe Mustangs men's soccer team showed pretty obvious superiority over a conference opponent in a convincing 5-0 shutout over Globe at City Park on Monday night. As a result of the win, Monroe's record improved to 5-2 and more importanty they took their first Region 15 game of the season. They have only one regular season conference game left on their schedule (vs. ASA on 10/18).
'We felt strong all night," said Coach Marcus Dibernardo. "It was the kind of game where a lot of players could get in the action because we were ahead and confident in the way we were playing. Of course, regardless who it is, putting one in the win column in our Region feels pretty good."
Freshman
Kalifa Sylla had the Mustangs' first two golas on the night in the ninth and seventeenth minutes of the match. The first was assisted on by sophomore
Fabian Burnett and the second by second-year player
Christopher Puente.
In the second half Sylla assisted on a goal by Monroe goals leader freshman
