SPARKILL, N.Y.–A last-second goal by Peterson Aquino led to a 1-1 draw between Monroe University–New Rochelle (2-2-1 overall) and St. Thomas Aquinas (1-2-2 overall) on Tuesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
· After nine combined shots were fired in the first half, neither team could score.
· St. Thomas Aquinas had three shots on goal in the half while the Mustangs scrapped just one.
· Then in the second half, 64:01 into the game, St. Thomas Aquinas struck first with a goal to give them a 1-0 lead.
· The Mustangs found the equalizer late in the second half with 13 seconds remaining in the game as Peterson Aquino found the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1.
STATS AND NOTES
· Aquino tallied his fourth goal of the season.
· The Mustangs tallied their first draw of the season.
· Goalie Sinan Sargin made three saves, which is tied for the most he's had in a game this season.
· The Mustangs fired nine shots on goal, which is the second highest this season.
