Hutchinson, KS – The Monroe University women's outdoor track and field team competed at the 2025 NJCAA Division I Championships this weekend to close out the 2024-25 athletic calendar.
Two Mustangs competed in the 400m to open up the event, coming in tenth place and 16th place, respectively. Sophomore
Kettia Ambrose clocked in at 55.43, placing second in her heat, before freshman
Kaliyah Jones placed with a time of 56.11.
On Friday, sophomore
Attoya Harvey got things going with a 15th place finish in the 1500m with a time of 4:49.16. Harvey then followed up that performance with a 14th place finish — third in heat — in the 800m with a time of 2:18.17.
Sophomore
Tanesia Gardiner also competed in the 800m, clocking in at 2:19.41 and finishing fourth in her heat.
Rounding out the championships, Jones, Harvey, Gardiner and Ambrose finished ninth in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:49.26.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
