Durham, NC – The Monroe University women's outdoor track and field team surpassed another school record this weekend at the Duke Invitational. The 1600m relay team of freshmen
Kaliyah Jones and
Tanesia Gardiner, and sophomores
Attoya Harvey and
Kettia Ambrose shattered the previous record that's stood since 2019.
After Ambrose broke the school record in the 400m last weekend, another Monroe school record went down at the Duke Invitational. Ambrose ran anchor in the record setting pace as Jones led off. Harvey and Gardiner followed, leading to a time of 3:48.46.
This time qualifies the quartet for nationals in May.
Harvey continued the impressive weekend for the Mustangs with a season-best time of 4:47.15 in the 1500m. The next day, she ran another season-best time of 2:14.64 in the 800m, improving her ranking on the national qualifying list. Freshman
