Hutchinson, KS – The Monroe University women's outdoor track and field team is set to compete at the 2025 NJCAA Division I Outdoor Championships from Thursday to Saturday. Preliminaries will be held on Thursday and Friday, with the finals taking place Saturday.
The competition will kick off on Thursday with sophomore
Kettia Ambrose and freshman
Kaliyah Jones participating in the 400m at 6:30 pm. Ambrose is the current school record holder in the event after breaking the previous mark with a 55.09 time at the Sam Howell Distance Invite.
On Friday, sophomore
Attoya Harvey will compete in the 1500m at 1:00 pm before joining freshman
Tanesia Gardiner in the 800m at 3:10 pm.
Then, at 5:25 pm, Jones, Harvey, Gardiner and Ambrose will compete in the 4x400m relay to close out the preliminary round for the Mustangs. The quartet will be looking to build off their record-breaking performance at the Duke Invitational, where they shattered the school record that had been in place since 2019.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
