GREENWOOD, Ind., June 25, 2024 – 19 student-athletes representing the Monroe College Mustangs were named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) College Division At-Large Academic All-District® Teams, as announced by CSC on Tuesday. Nine Mustang men and the maximum 10 Mustang women were selected to their respective Academic All-District® squads.
Student-athletes are eligible for Academic All-District® selection by meeting several specific criteria. Student-athletes must be a sophomore athletically and academically. They must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale). Student-athletes must also meet their
sport-specific participation requirements to qualify. Student-athletes named to the CSC Academic All-District® Team are eligible to be selected for the 2024 CSC College Division At-Large Academic All-America® Team.
The Mustangs men's soccer team, fresh off back-to-back NJCAA Div. I Men's Soccer Championships, had the most CSC Academic All-District® Team members with four.
Thiago Jose Da Silva,
Manuel Cordeiro,
Sunao Yamamoto and Stev Thallinger all represent Monroe on the distinctive list.
Continuing the men's side, the baseball team was next with three representatives in
Diego Urreta,
Jeremy De La Mota and
Daniel DiEdwards. Men's volleyball followed with two selections in
Arnau Riu Giralt and
Timothy Reyes.
Kgaogelo Moloisi of the cross country and track and field teams rounded out Monroe's 10 Academic All-District® men's selections.
The Mustangs' women's volleyball team had the most selections on the women's side with four. They are represented by
Manon Braunsteffer,
Alessia Gallo,
Izabela Wos and
Gabriela Aimi Zuquelo.
Women's soccer was next with three team members.
Louise Featherstone,
Chrissie Burke and
Samara Dullabh were all selected for Academic All-District®. The other three Mustang women to earn spots on the Academic All-District® Team were softball's
Marissa Thalassinos, women's basketball's
Carlota Gomez-Alonso and track and field's
Alyssa Dyett.
All 20 student-athletes will now be in consideration for the 2024 CSC College Division At-Large Academic All-America® Teams. The CSC College Division At-Large Academic All-America® Women's Team will be announced on Tuesday, July 16, with the men's team being revealed on Wednesday, July 17.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 28 teams competing across nine sports. There are 20 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well the Monroe College marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
