New Rochelle, NY - Freshman pitcher Yedlimar De Jesus of the Monroe University baseball team appeared in a feature segment on News 12 Westchester on Friday evening. The Puerto Rico native is making history as the first female player to compete for the Monroe Mustangs baseball program.
Reporter Jade Nash was at Flowers Park to interview de Jesus, as well as head coach
John Torres, and her teammate Harlen Ferreiras on her arrival to campus.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
