Monroe Mustangs JV Women’s Basketball Plays First-Ever Road Game at Bronx Community College

BRONX, N.Y., November 29, 2022 – The Monroe College Mustangs JV women's basketball team got its first taste of road basketball on Tuesday, making a short trip into the Bronx to take on Bronx Community College. The Broncos came out on top in the game by a score of 74-30.
 
The Mustangs fell behind in the first half, being outscored, 37-11, over the first two quarters. Monroe then had a solid third quarter, totaling 13 points after shooting 6-of-13 from the field. The Mustangs were then outscored in the fourth quarter by the Broncos, 19-6.
 
Teah McKoy led the way for the Mustangs with 11 points and 11 rebounds for her first ever double-double. Jalissa Fatorma added 10 points with three boards and a steal. Jenny Washington scored two points, but also added six steals, two assists and four rebounds. Shonntae Taylor also filled up the stat sheet with two points, three rebounds, four steals and an assist.

The Mustangs are back at it on Sunday, Dec. 4, when they take on the Monroe Express JV team once again at the Monroe Athletic Complex. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
 
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 35 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well the Monroe College marching band and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 11 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
