NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y., November 12, 2022 – The Monroe College Mustangs JV women's basketball team played its first ever contest on Saturday at the Monroe Athletic Complex, hosting the Monroe Express JV team in an inter-campus matchup. The Express picked up the win in the game by a score of 108-37. The Mustangs start their season 0-1, while the Express improve to 3-0.
Jenny Washington led the Mustangs in scoring in the game, totaling 10 points. She also matched
Jalissa Fatorma with a team-high six rebounds and dished out a team-high four assists.
Aniya Brown added six points. Azareth Santos totaled five points and four rebounds. Fatorma added four points and three steals in the game.
The Mustangs and Express will go head-to-head once again on Wednesday, Nov. 23, at the Monroe Athletic Complex. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 35 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well the Monroe College marching band and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 11 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
