NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y., October 30, 2021 – It took until the 99th minute of the game, but the Monroe College Mustangs men's soccer team lost in overtime to Montgomery College, 1-0, in Saturday's East District Championship semifinals at Joseph F. Fosina Field. The Raptors improve to 13-4 and advance to next weekend's District finals, while the Mustangs fall to 5-6 and see their 2021 campaign come to an end.
With just over a minute to play in the first overtime period, Diego Ramirez found Andres Javitt with nobody in front of him but the keeper. He fired into the right corner of the net, scoring the game-winning goal at 98:27 to send the Raptors to the District finals.
Marvin Cheguen Mendez made seven saves in the shutout victory for Montgomery.
Tomaso Lorenzi took the loss for Monroe after giving up one goal.
The Mustangs outshot the Raptors, 23-3, in the game, including a 7-1 shots-on-goal edge. Corner kicks were even at 4-4.
The Mustangs finish the season with a 5-6 overall record. They won the Region 3/15 Championship last weekend with a 4-0 victory over Monroe Community College.

The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 18 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
