SPRINGFIELD, Mass., October 3, 2018 – The Monroe College JV team dropped a 3-0 decision to Springfield Technical Community College on the road Wednesday afternoon. The Mustangs fall to 2-2 on the year, while Springfield Tech improves to 2-4-1.
The Mustangs yielded a pair of goals in the first half, the first via penalty kick, to shoulder a 2-0 deficit at the break. The Rams added one more in the 65th minute to cap off their 3-0 win.
Christian Vargas started in goal for Monroe, giving up two goals while making two saves to take the loss.
Jose Ocampo and
Tiler Brown split the second half for the Mustangs.
Chrismonor Eugene led the team with three shots in the game.
Michel Sonceau and
Jonathan Molina each put a shot on goal.
The Mustangs will play again tomorrow, Oct. 4, when they play a scrimmage against the Monroe Express at Flowers Park in New Rochelle. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 28 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, and the newly added club men's volleyball team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
