NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y., October 14, 2017 – The No. 2 Monroe College men's soccer team played to a scoreless stalemate with NJCAA Region XV foe ASA College Saturday evening at City Park. The Mustangs move to 10-0-2 on the season with the draw, while ASA moves to 5-6-2.
The Mustangs nearly won the game in the final 30 seconds when
Gabriel Machado sent a free kick off the crossbar and appearing to get it to land over the line. After a long discussion, the referees waved off the goal, sending the game into overtime, where neither team was able to put one into the net.

Svyat Kozak earned his sixth shutout of the season after making a pair of saves, moving his record to 6-0-1 on the year. ASA keeper Daniel Augusto made five stops in the game.
Machado led the Mustangs with five shots in the game, while
Javier Rodriguez tried three. The Mustangs finished with 20 shots in the game, while ASA tried just six. The Mustangs also had seven corner kicks, while the Avengers earned just three.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's rugby, and the newly added club women's rugby team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, will have six teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level beginning in the fall of 2017.
