Baltimore, Md. – The Monroe College men's soccer team has earned a perfect 2-0 start to the season after a 1-0 victory over CCBC Essex in Baltimore on Sunday. This matchup featured a pair of top-20 ranked teams, with Monroe College and CCBC Essex ranked at 15 and 19, respectively.
The lone goal of the contest came in the 78
th minute, when Gabriel Machado blasted a shot into the upper left corner of the net off a feed from Lucas Vaz. It was Machado's first goal of the season, while Vaz has two assists in as many games.
Defense was key for this second-straight win, as the Mustangs held the Knights without a shot on goal for the entire contest. The team has now outscored its opponents 4-1 in the two games this season. Goalie
