New Rochelle, N.Y. – The Monroe College Men's Soccer team swept the Northeast District Tournament over the weekend, earning an automatic qualifier to the National Championship Tournament in the process.  The sophomore class of Evan Finnegan, Tomasso Vitale, Jorge Paez, Dauda Kenneh, Andreas Time, Algassimou Bah, and Veux Mane will be making their first trip to the tournament.
 
Monroe opened play with a 5-2 victory over Massasoit Community College.  Ben Mardones, Luiz Soupinski, Felipe Hideki, Jorge Paez, and Jamal Manley West each scored a goal. Ignacio Goya, Evan Finnegan, and Paez all got assists.
 
In the final, the Mustangs prevailed over Rowan College at Burlington County, 5-0.  Hideki, Finnegan, Goya, West, and Antonio Sanchez all recorded goals.  Monroe outshot Burlington, 11-1.
 
The Monroe College Men's Soccer team will return to action in the National Tournament, which is slated for November 14th-19th in Tyler, Texas.
