Pedro Vasquez played a crucial role in helping the Mustangs get to and nearly win the East District Championship this past week. Vasquez batted .353 across four games, leading the team with seven RBIs to go with four runs, two doubles and a home run. In Monday's Region 10 Championship final against Harford Community College, he went 2-for-5 with three RBIs, two runs and a double to help the Mustangs win the tournament and advance to the East District Championship. In three games against No.6 Florence-Darlington, Vasquez batted 4-for-12 (.333) with a home run, a double and four RBIs as the Mustangs dropped the best-of-three series to the Stingers. Vasquez gave the Mustangs life in the Championship Game on Sunday, hitting a three-run home run with the Mustangs trailing, 6-0, to cut the deficit in half.Â
