Thiago Jose da Silva was named the 2023 NJCAA Div. I Men's Soccer Championship Most Valuable Player after helping lead the Mustangs to their second straight NJCAA Championship. Da Silva provided a highlight reel goal late in the title game. With Monroe trailing, 2-1, in the 85th minute, he played a header from Tal Torgeman by turning his back to the goal and flipping backwards for a bicycle kick that ended up inside the left post of the net, tying the game and eventually sending it to overtime, leading to Monroe's penalty-kick victory to take home the title.
