Karim Belmahdi got the 2023 indoor track and field season off to a terrific start in the Mustangs' season debut at the TCNJ Lions Invitational at The Armory on Saturday. Belmahdi's last indoor race in 2022 saw him set a new Monroe College record in the mile run. He picked up right where he left off last indoor season, re-setting the record with a time of 4:11.67 on Saturday. This time puts Belmahdi at the top of the NJCAA rankings in the mile run to start the season, and earned him a spot in the event at the 2023 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
