Jordan Gurganus was announced as the new Monroe College Mustangs softball assistant coach in September 2018.
Jordan has been actively coaching and teaching the sport to young women ages 8-18 for five years. Before coming to Monroe, she was the assistant coach at North Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, Pa. Jordan was the assistant coach for a U18 gold travel team as well, Team Pennsylvania. She also worked at Bianco School, in which she gave individual private hitting and fielding lessons.
Prior to her coaching career, Gurganus accomplished a successful athletic career in her high school and college life. She was a four-year starter at Hickory High School in Chesapeake, Virginia, earning accolades such as the player of the year, along with all-district, all-region, and all-state honors as a shortstop.
Gurganus went on to play as a four-year starter on Robert Morris University softball team as a utility player. Gurganus was selected as a three-time all NEC conference award winner. She also received the NEC Batting Title award in 2015. Her all-time career batting average of .350 was ranked the second in Robert Morris University history. Gurganus' other records include RMU's all-time career hits record (250), single-season hit record (76), and all-time at-bats records (702).
Gurganus graduated in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Robert Morris University. She is a native of Chesapeake, Va., and currently resides in Mamaroneck, N.Y.
