Brandon Torrey

Brandon Torrey enters his second season with the Monroe Mustangs as the tight ends coach.

Torrey joined the Monroe College football staff at the beginning of the 2017 season. Prior to Monroe, Torrey started his coaching career as an Offensive Line Coach at Howard University. During his tenure there, the offensive line helped set the school record for most rushing yards in a single game by one running back, and produced the first 1,000 yard rusher (1,240 yds.), since 2002.
 
Before moving to the coaching ranks, Torrey excelled as a professional football player for seven years. Torrey played with various football clubs including the New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers, Oakland Raiders, and Arizona Cardinals. He was a member of the 2007 Super Bowl Champion New York Giants, who defeated the unbeaten New England Patriots in one of the biggest upsets in sports history.
 
Torrey played his college football at Howard University. He started as a true freshman and earned postseason recognition as a top-ten guard in the nation. Torrey eventually set the school record for most consecutive starts. Other honors included the Pig Skin Club’s "Metropolitan Player of the Year", Second Team All-American (2004), Howard’s Offensive player of the year (2004), and First Team All-MEAC for four consecutive years. In 2004, he represented Howard University as a starter in the HBCU All-Star Classic.
 
Brandon received his Bachelor’s degree from Howard University and grew up in North Carolina.
