Former Mustang Susan Ejore Set To Compete At World Athletics Championships

Tokyo, Japan – Former Monroe University women's track and field star Susan Ejore is set to compete in the 1500m race at the Tokyo World Athletics Championships on Saturday, September 13. She will be representing her home country of Kenya.

Ejore competed for the Mustangs from 2015-2017 as both a cross country and track and field distance runner. She holds school records in both indoor and outdoor seasons, setting the benchmark for the 800m, mile and 3000m in indoor, and the 800m, 1500m, and 3000m in outdoor. She also holds the school record for cross country in the 5k and 6k.

At the national level, Ejore won three indoor national championships (1000m, mile, distance medley relay) and five outdoor national championships (800m, 1500m, 4x800m relay). Her athletic prowess during her time with the Mustangs led to an appearance on the November 2015 edition of Sports Illustrated: Faces in the Crowd.

Following her career at Monroe, Ejore traveled across the country upon her commitment to the University of Oregon. With the Ducks, she won a national championship at the 2019 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships in the distance medley relay.

Upon turning pro in 2020, Ejore joined Under Armour as a sponsored athlete.

Ejore will make her third major national appearance for Kenya in the 1500m on Saturday, which begins at 6:50 am ET. Her heat will commence at 7:10 am ET.
