The Mustangs improve to 6-1 on the year with the win, while Northern Virginia drops to 1-5.

Another five points to open the new frame put the Mustangs up by 16 points. The lead grew to 21 points when Aneisha Lyons sank a layup with 1:58 left in the half. The Mustangs kept their momentum rolling, closing out the half with a 34-10 advantage.

Monroe did not slow down in the third quarter, rushing out to a 50-12 lead with 5:50 still to play in the period. India Keene put the Mustangs up by 40 late in the third, but the Nighthawks scored the final four points of the quarter, leaving Monroe up, 58-22, heading to the fourth.

The Mustangs and Nighthawks went back-and-forth in the fourth quarter, keeping the Mustang lead between 34 and 38 points. Monroe pushed the lead to 40 twice in the final minute, but ultimately came away with a 38-point victory.

12 different Mustangs scored in Sunday's win. Phyness Baldwin and Jozai Vazquez tied for the team lead with nine points apiece, while Baldwin matched Lyons to lead the team with four assists. Lyons contributed eight points, as did Keene and Devon Adams. Destiny Jennings pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds to go with five points.
