New Rochelle, N.Y. – In their first season of league play in the American International Postgrad Conference, the Monroe College JV team advanced to the second round of the playoffs and had three players earn All-Conference honors.
James Brady was named to the First Team,
Andre Morgan was a Second Team selection, and
Nolen Irby earned a spot on the Third Team.
Brady, a freshman from Yonkers, joined the team mid-season and made an immediate impact in the scoring column. Brady started all 18 games in which he appeared, and he led the team in scoring at 13.3 PPG. He reached double figures in scoring in all but four contests, posted a pair of double-doubles, and was second on the team in rebounds (6.1 per game).
Morgan was a dominant presence in the middle throughout the year. From his forward position, he led the Mustangs in rebounds per game (8.1), was second in scoring (11.2), and posted more double-doubles (8) than anyone else on the team. The Copiague, New York product's best scoring output, 27 points, came against New York International Academy.
Irby, a freshman from Harlem, was the team's leader from the point guard position. He led the team in assists (72), steals (47) and assists per game (2.8). He also reached double figures in scoring ten times, highlighted by a 24-point game against Prestige Prep Academy.
Overall, the Monroe College JV basketball finished the year with a 13-17 record. They won their opening-round game in the AIPGC playoffs before being eliminated in overtime in round two.
