Shirvon Greene

Specializing in coaching Monroe’s long sprinters, middle/long distance runners, and cross-country runners for 16 seasons, coach Shirvon Greene truly embodies what it means to be a Monroe Mustang. As one of Monroe’s first-ever track athletes, coach Greene began the tradition of excellence continued by the athletes now under his guidance as a coach. Beginning in 2007, coach Greene launched an impressive legacy as a Monroe student-athlete.

In his two years, he ran the table as the college’s best track athlete. He won several NJCAA All-American awards and numerous distinguished Academic All-American honors. He was named the Mustangs Cross Country and Indoor & Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year in 2008. Additionally, he was selected as the track and cross-country MVP for two straight seasons. Greene won two All-Region awards and was a two-time district champion. He was a runner-up in the 800m and 1500m at the 2008 nationals. At one time, he held Monroe’s records for the 800m, 1500m, 5000m, and 10000m.

After years as a valued assistant for each of Monroe's track and field/cross country programs, Greene was named head coach for the both the men's and women's cross country and track and field teams in 2023, expanding upon his Monroe legacy.

Greene attended high school at the Charlestown Secondary School in Charlestown, Nevis. While there, he was a five-time cross country champion and former school record holder for the senior boys category. While at Charlestown Secondary, he was a champion in the 800m, 1500m, 5k, 10k and 4x400m events. In addition, he was a two-time senior boys class champion. Coach Greene has been a track athlete for over 20 years, and still actively competes. He also is a former member of the St. Kitts-Nevis National Track Team.
