New Rochelle, NY – Freshman
Khamari Brown of the Monroe football team and freshman
Adriana Garcia of the Monroe women's volleyball team have been named this week's Mustangs of the Week.
Brown burst onto the scene in his first collegiate outing at Sussex County, tying the team lead with two sacks against the Skylanders. The Providence native also teamed up for a tackle for loss as he wreaked havoc on the Mustang defensive line.
The Mustangs ceded just six points in their season opener, with Brown being the driving force amongst a unit that generated six sacks and tons of QB pressure all afternoon.
Garcia was the most consistent player on a Mustang team that dominated in their four wins at the Monroe Invitational. The Puerto Rico native paced the team with 43 kills over the 13 sets played across four contests.
In Monroe's 3-1 victory over No. 14 Richard Bland College, Garcia provided 12 kills — her best mark of the weekend. She continues to overwhelm opposing defenses as her 92 kills (2.56 kills per set) leads the team this season thus far.
