Staten Island, NY – The Monroe University men's indoor track & field team competed at the Fast Track Invite hosted by Wagner College on Friday.
In the 60m, freshman
Elijah Upsher ran a personal-best time of 7.54. Freshman
Douglas Lee closely followed Upsher with a time of 7.63 in the event. Rounding out the Mustangs in the 60m was freshman
Felixon Elubin, who ran a personal-best time of 7.65.
Freshman
Nkanyezi Ziqubu ran a personal-best in the 3000m with a time of 8:48.79.
Four Mustangs competed in the 400m, with sophomore
Junior Grant making his season debut in the event with a time of 50.53. Freshman
Anesuishe Makuwatsine made his collegiate track and field debut with a time of 51.44 in the event.
Sophomore
Nickoy Henry next crossed the finish line for Monroe with a time of 52.36. Freshman Elijas Carswell clocked in at 55.37.
Upsher and freshman
Micah McHardy competed in the long jump at the Fast Track Invite. Upsher completed a jump of 6.15m, while McHardy umped 4.84m in the event.
Rounding out the day, three Mustangs made their collegiate debuts in the 200m. Carswell ran a time of 24.38, Elubin ran a time of 24.54, and Lee clocked in at 24.78.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 28 teams competing across nine sports. There are 20 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
