Lubbock, TX - Freshman Modou Sanneh of the Monroe University men's indoor track and field team earned a podium finish in the 400m during day two of the 2025 NJCAA National Championships on Saturday.
Sanneh highlighted a terrific finish to the season for the Mustangs, placing sixth overall with a time of 47.29. His performance also earned himself USTFCCCA All-American status.
Sophomore Banele Mkabela ran a time of 4:19.68 in the mile, while fellow sophomore Tinashe Bure concluded a solid indoor season with a ninth overall finish in the 1000m with a time of 2:30.80, narrowly missing the podium.
The Mustangs wrapped up the weekend with a 3:15.48 time in the 4x400m relay. The team of sophomores Dwayne Fleming and Junior Grant, and freshmen Anthony Barrett and Cleon Joseph clocked in with a season-best time on the day.
With the indoor season now completed, the Mustangs will take a few weeks off before kicking off the 2025 outdoor season with high expectations.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
