New York, NY – The Monroe University men's indoor track and field team competed at the Ramapo Invitational on Friday, marking its third meet of the 2025 season.
Freshman
Abraham Saywon made his season debut and placed sixth in the 60m unseeded race with a time of 7.61. Following Saywon were freshmen
Douglas Lee and
Micah McHardy, who churned out times of 7.70 and 7.91, respectively.
Saywon once again placed atop the leaderboard for Monroe in the 200m, recording a time 24.02. Freshman
Elijah Carswell and Lee completed the trio of Mustangs competing in the event.
In the men's 400m, freshman
Anthony Barrett clocked in at 52.03. Freshman
Joel Bennett scored a 12.53m jump in the triple jump.
Lastly, in the long jump, freshman
Elijah Upsher placed 23rd for his distance of 6.17m, a personal best. Bennett and McHardy rounded out the competitors from Monroe in the long jump with 5.61m and 5.24m jumps, respectively.
The Mustangs will be back in action on Friday, January 24, for a two-day event hosted by Columbia University. The Dr. Sander Invitational will start at 9:00 am at The Armory.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 28 teams competing across nine sports. There are 20 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
