SMYRNA, Del., September 15, 2024 – The Monroe University Mustangs women's cross country team got its season started down in Delaware with the Delaware State University Sting Invitational.
Sophomore
Attoya Harvey was Monroe's top finisher in Friday's meet. She clocked in with a 5K time of 19:34.6 to lead the way for the Mustangs with an eighth-place finish out of 80 total runners.
Tanesia Gardiner was Monroe's next finisher in her first collegiate race with a 40th-place time of 23:21.1.
Stephanie Delouis ran a time of 31:57.3 in her debut for the Mustangs.
Aleisha Clarke was next for Monroe with a time of 34:18.8.
Julihanna Johnson was Monroe's final finisher with a time of 38:23.70.
The Mustangs will compete back up in the northeast next Saturday, Sept. 21, when they run in the 2024 Codfish Bowl Classic in Boston, Mass. Saturday's meet is set to begin at 11 a.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 28 teams competing across nine sports. There are 20 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
