Richmond, VA – The Monroe University women's cross country team finished strong at the NJCAA Division I Cross Country Championship, with three runners earning personal bests at Pole Green Park on Saturday afternoon.
Freshmen Tanesia Gardner and
Aleisha Clarke ran personal bests, as did sophomore
Julihanna Johnson. Gardner and Clarke ran a 21:42.10 and 31:12.60, respectively, while Johnson clocked in at 30:15.30.
First place for the Mustangs was sophomore
Attoya Harvey, who ran a season-best time of 18:47.51 after having finished in first place over the last three events prior to the NJCAA Championships.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 28 teams competing across nine sports. There are 20 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
