GREENSBORO, N.C., April 23, 2022 –
Prince Mcabelo had a big day for the No. 23-ranked Monroe College Mustangs men's track and field team, picking up a first-place finish in the 800-meter run on Saturday's Day 2 of the Aggie Classic, hosted by North Carolina A&T State University.
Mcabelo finished first in a field of 45 runners in the 800m on Saturday after clocking in at 1:50.40. His time improves his 2022 NJCAA Div. I Outdoor Track and Field Championship qualifying time by more than two seconds, and gives him the second-fastest time in program history in the event, right behind his fellow countryman, Mpho Makofane.

Karim Belmahdi,
Jonathan Hackshaw and Deshawn Williams all also ran in the 800m for Monroe on Saturday. Bourahli took eighth place with a time of 1:53.90. Molutsi was right behind him in ninth in his first try at the 800m with a time of 1:53.97, earning his spot in the event for the NJCAA Championships.
Karim Belmahdi also ran the 800m for the first time and finished 10th with a time of 1:53.98 to also qualifying for the NJCAA Championships in the event. Hackshaw clocked in at 1:58.50 in the race, while Williams finished in 2:14.31 for a new personal-best time.
Edward Williams Jr. had a nice day in the 110-meter hurdles on Saturday. After qualifying for the finals with a preliminary time of 14.33 seconds, he placed second overall with a time of 14.26 seconds in the final.

Tendai Nyoni all raced in the 400-meter dash on Saturday. Best crossed the line first at 49.01 seconds, while Jones was next at 49.26. Paul finished the race in 50.04, and Nyoni clocked in at 51.29 seconds.
The Mustangs are set to compete next in Philadelphia, Pa. as part of the historic Penn Relays. The three-day meet begins on Thursday, April 28.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 35 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 14 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
