HUTCHINSON, Kan., March 9, 2020 – After earning the East District Championship with a win over Hagerstown Community College on Saturday, the Monroe College Mustangs men's basketball team claimed the East District's automatic bid into the 2019-20 NJCAA eTeamSponsor Division I Men's Basketball Championships. The Mustangs learned during Monday's NJCAA DI Men's Basketball Selection Show that they will enter the tournament as the No. 22 seed, and will open the tournament against No. 11 Colby Community College.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
The winner of Tuesday's contest will move on to challenge No. 6 Florida SouthWestern College, which earned one of eight first-round byes in the tournament. The second-round game will be played on Wednesday, March 18, at 9 p.m. EST. Florida SouthWestern was the No. 1-ranked team in the NJCAA prior to losing in the FCSAA State Tournament.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 12 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
