Tshwanelo Maruping broke Monroe College's outdoor 3,000-meter steeplechase record on Friday at the Larry Ellis Invitational. Maruping broke a record set seven years ago by Atara Segree (11:49.77 – 2015) with a time of 11:40.53, which also qualifies her for the 2022 NJCAA Div. I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the event. Maruping now holds the third-fastest time in the NJCAA so far this season, just three seconds behind the NJCAA's leader in the event.
