Juliana Pires provided what proved to be the game-winning goal in the Monroe women's soccer team's 2-1 victory over No. 4 Daytona State College this past Saturday. After Yolanda Albalat put the Mustangs ahead, 1-0, early in the game, Pires added Monroe's second of the day off a feed from Alba Gonzalez in the 58th minute to push the lead to 2-0. Daytona State managed to get one on the board in the final minutes of the game, but Pires' goal proved to be the difference-maker in the end.
