Justin Stack is a championship volleyball coach. As head coach of the Baruch College Men’s Volleyball team, he built the program into a two-time CUNY Athletic Conference Championship team and for the first-time in school history received national recognition, placing as high as 15th in NCAA Division III. He was named CUNYAC Coach of the Year in 2005 and 2006.
Coach Stack then returned to his alma mater Hunter College in September, 2007 to serve as Coach for both the men’s and women’s volleyball programs. He led the men’s program to a Division title, Conference Championship, a ranking of 11th in the nation and an ECAC Championship, the first in 15 years for any sport at Hunter College. He guided the women’s team to a regular season Conference title and Conference Championship in 2007, a 5th seed NCAA tournament berth, highest seed in school history, and another Conference Championship and 6th seed NCAA tournament berth in 2008.
Coach Stack was also a standout player. A four-year standout for Hunter, he led them to two CUNYAC Championships and a NECVA Championship game appearance in 2001, which was one match away from the Division III Final Four. In addition, he was named the CUNYAC Tournament MVP in 2001, was a multi-time CUNYAC All-Star, 3x School MVP, nationally recognized in 5 AVCA statistical categories including top 5 in Aces, Hitting percentage and Digs. He was also named to the NECVA First Team All-Conference twice and All-Tournament team and later was Gold Medalist at the USA Nationals in Denver 2005.
Stack has been a Head Coach for various Girls Youth Camps including a Nike Volleyball in San Diego and Columbia University Volleyball Camp. His experience with Girl’s volleyball extends through his commitment as a referee for N.Y State volleyball and has consistently been a State Finals referee.
Justin Stack currently resides in New York City and is still an avid volleyball player, competing in Open Beach volleyball tournaments including the local semi-pro tour and AVP Qualifiers and USA Volleyball Adult Nationals. He is also a Sports Specific trainer and Reebok Sports Club N.Y, conducts adult and youth clinics and had the great pleasure of Organizing the US OPEN Central Park Clinic with Karch Kiraly in the summer of 2007.
