Head Coach of both the Men’s and Women’s Track and Field programs, Coach Mark Goodman is responsible for the team's evolution into consistent championship contenders.
Prior to his tenure at Monroe, Coach Goodman led high school teams on Long Island for eight years. During that time his teams won a Cross Country Championship, six Indoor Conference Championships, seven Outdoor Division Championships, and were County Champion Runners-Up three times. Coach Goodman was recognized for his accomplishments, being named 2007 Coach of the Year by the Nassau County Coaches Association. In addition to his teams’ success, he produced top individuals including several State Championship qualifiers.
A jack of all trades while coaching high school athletes, Coach Goodman’s specializes in throwing events at the collegiate level. His athletes consistently perform well at National level competitions; his athlete Tautvydas Kieras won the 2011 Penn Relays Discus competition against collegiate competitors from all divisions, as well as both the 2011 and 2012 NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in the discus. Monroe’s throwers, under Coach Goodman’s guidance, look to be the cornerstone of the team for years to come.
Coach Goodman graduated from the University of Albany where he was recruited to throw discus and the hammer for the State University’s Division I Track and Field Team. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. After moving back to Long Island, Coach Goodman attended and graduated from Hofstra University with a Master of Science degree in Physical Education, grades K-12.
Coach Goodman currently balances his Head Coaching duties with responsibilities as Monroe College’s Director of Facilities.
